Trojan Nation,

I am pleased to announce that last evening the Chambersburg Area School District Board of School Directors voted to approve our "Return to Sports Health & Safety Plan!" This is a great first step in bringing our student-athletes and coaches back to campus as we begin to prepare for the upcoming school year. Please know, though, that this plan primarily addresses optional off-season workouts. We are awaiting more information from the Governor's Office, PDE, and the PIAA regarding our Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons.

We realize that after approximately three months away from one another that we need to "walk before we can run," and as a result you will see numerous modifications and staggered start dates for all sports detailed within the plan. One of our main goals in developing this plan was to ensure the safety of all student-athletes and staff members so that we can keep moving forward in the Governor's reopening plan and not take any steps back. It, therefore, is a NECESSITY that we all come together as one TEAM and take ownership for our own individual roles in implementing this plan.

To review the complete plan please click the link below:

Some key information found within the plan are as follows:

  • June 29, 2020 - Fall Sports (Level 2)
  • July 13, 2020 - Fall Sports (Level 3), Winter Sports (Level 2)
  • July 27, 2020 - Winter Sports (Level 3), Spring Sports (Level 2)
  • August 10, 2020 - Spring Sports (Level 3)

Our coaching staff will be in direct communication with each of you regarding their specific team's workout times and locations. Feel free to reach out to our staff on your own as needed.

All student-athletes and staff will be required to undergo a Covid-19 Screening prior to entering our facilities at CASHS this summer. A screening tent will be set up outside the main entrance of the CASHS Fieldhouse to check every student-athlete before they enter either our gym or stadium.  These screenings will be conducted by our trained Sports Medicine Staff with the assistance of our coaching staff. Additionally, all student-athletes will be required to have a signed Covid-19 Waiver before they can participate in these summer off-season workouts. To download the waiver please click the link below:

If you are not able to print the waiver prior to your sport's first optional practice we will have copies available at our screening tent.

Our staff will remind student-athletes daily about the following best practices related to hygiene:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • If you are sick, stay home until you are feeling better.
  • If you, your child, or a family member are exhibiting signs of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath) CALL your healthcare provider. Additionally, you can call  1-877-PA-HEALTH (24/7) for information and assistance from the PA Department of Health.

Student-athletes and staff will be required to wear face coverings when entering and exiting the building, and to continue wearing them as feasible. While working out student-athletes will not be required to wear face coverings.

Just a reminder, again, that participation in these summer work outs is optional. A decision to not participate will not negatively affect further participation during in-season activities.  Should families choose to not have students participate in off season workouts, other activities which can be completed individually, will be made available by coaches. As more public health information becomes available, the Chambersburg Area School District "Athletics Covid-19 Task Force" will work to release further guidance which could impact off-season workouts and our fall, winter, or spring seasons.
