Mifflin County 34, Chambersburg 25; Chambersburg 36, State College 33: The Trojans opened their season with a split against two quality Mid Penn Commonwealth opponents in Lewisburg on Saturday morning.

Against the Huskies, Chambersburg trailed 25-6 with six bouts to go. The Trojans won the first four of them to tie the match 25-25, but Mifflin County captured a decision and pin in the final two bouts. Of the four decisions won by three or fewer points, the Huskies won all four.
The Trojans led the Little Lions 33-12 with five bouts remaining and SC won four of them. But an 11-5 decision for Tyler Frye at 152 sealed the victory with one match left.
"There were four good teams up there (Gettysburg went 2-0 vs. MC and SC)," Chambersburg coach Matt Mentzer said. "We had a couple of opportunities to pull it out against Mifflin County, and that kind of swung the match a little. It was a lot of back-and-forth against State College."
Three Trojan wrestlers were 2-0 — Aiden Hight had 2 pins, Gabe Nolan had a pin and a major decision and Zach Sherman had a decision and pin.
Mentzer said, "We have some young kids finding their way and some freshmen and sophomores had their ups and downs. Nolan had two good matches. (Ashton) Romberger jumped up a weight class twice (going 1-1), and Frye did a nice job in that last match, although he had to fight off his back with about 30 seconds to go.
"We did not have a smooth week of practice, and we weren't right weight-wise yet, but the kids hustled."
